Mormons don't try to push their religion on you.

For LDS Missionaries ( I don't know about other Churches) we don't try to push it on you, at least to my understanding. We will ask if we can talk to you about the church and the gospel and invite you to learn more but if you say no we will leave you alone. Now I'm sure some Missionaries may be overbearing, but this is not the majority. In fact we have a portion of the Book of Mormon which shows that "Bible Bashing" people doesn't work. Instead we try to be good examples for of who Mormons really are by helping others.

When I converted (a good long while ago), I actually knew more than the missionaries did; I read the BoM, Doctrine and Covenants, and was given a quad by a friend. I also had a list of questions for them, and was much more interested in talking about the finer ins-and-outs of the religion. The biggest test for me was whether or not they were able to frankly and intelligently discuss some of the darker spots of the Church's history. In my years of being in the Church, I have yet to get a satisfactory answer to some of those questions, and I am often shooed away when I ask them.

Well I don't claim to be a Church historian, but I do have some knowledge of our darker points. So ask away and I'll see if I can give you an answer.

I find that it's not the door-to-door type that's the most overbearing. It's the regular people who go to church and are very steeped in their faith that constantly push. They also tend to be the most judgmental. Not all of course, but some. Same with anything I suppose.
