I don't think it's the same at all. Sometimes people are so sad that they don't look past themselves. Of course some people really do have it bad, but others don't even realize all the good things they have. Sometimes they just need a new perspective. I know because I was depressed for almost four years and one day I just decided to stop. It was really hard, but I just tried some things to help me get a better perspective on life. You're only as sad as you let yourself be.
Being happy is not about how good your life is, it's how positive you can stay even in the worst situations. Some people do need to be told to stop being sad because many of their problems are 80% themselves. Everything is about perspective. It's not about telling them they can't be sad, it's about telling them to look at other people who have it worse and are happy. That it's hard, but when it comes down to it it's all in how you view your life.
No no no. Everyone has a right to be sad, it's those people who are 'depressed' that we say it to. I believe that 'Major depressive disorder' is just a made up sickness to make money and get attention. I know something can make you very sad like losing some one who was close to you and it's hard but so what, get over it
It really is, it's like the opposite of rose colored glasses. You can only see the world for the bad things and never see the good. It's the way your mind works when you're depressed. I do believe people are on too many medications when they could fix their problems on their own though. It is so hard to change the way you think of things, but it is so much better for you in the long run to do it on your own rather than depend on medicine.
felix no, you're right, it is a lot worse than feeling sad, it's whining about everything so people can give them attention and do stuff for them. If someone with "depression" does exsercise and drink a lot of water everyday then the cloud covering their judgement would go away and they would feel beter. It's all in the mind !!
A good chuck of depressed people don't even voice they have it. They try to make a mask out of their emotions so people like you don't shit on them for having a mental problem. They attempt to make their life seem normal and when alone they breakdown in whatever way they do and try to wake up in the morning without killing themselves. Once again that's not all of them but the ones who do whine and use it as a pass are the ones who don't have it. I have it l, had it since I was a kid and refused therapy and medicine. Now I'm fucked but I don't show it. So next time you want to insult people with depression and say you know your shit, KNOW YOUR FUCKEN SHIT!
Wow. What an ignorant, apathetic, judgmental dick of a child I was. God, I truly was an idiotic know-it-all little shit. If I could go back in time, I would slap my stupid little mouth shut. To all who read my previous comments, I sincerely apologize for this self-righteous, uninformed display of closed-mindedness. I have grown to acknowledge the reality and difficulties of mental disorders, including depression. I'm sorry. I hope ya'll can forgive me. And I hope you are all ok.
