In that case, we should all bring a throwing knife

When I was about 9 or 10, an alarm came over the speakers at my after school center, "This Is Not A Drill, An Armed Gunman Has Been Seen Walking On Campus" and I'm from the valley, so guns really didn't scare us (imagine that, a group of 10 year olds looking a barrel in the eye) but to have it really happen to us, that was scary, you know? We were stuffed in every available space, I myself was put in a cabinet. The drill wasn't over for another hour, and the center didn't even notify our parents.
It's scary though, because I remember his footsteps when he came in the classroom. What if he found us?
I just think it's a dark day when gun violence is so bad that we're telling students that the place they always thought to be safe, isn't anymore. Or how it's so /common/ for a school or mall shooting to happen.
Sorry if I bored, you. Seeing this made me remember.
I've been on the business end of a gun, I was pretty badly wounded, looking back I wish I'd have had something to either deflect the scatter shot or something to hit the gunman with.
A fair sentiment but quite frankly, it sounds a bit like the campus cop is trying to pass the buck on their job.

...or alternatively, you could just allow the teachers to be trained and be armed in class. Gunmen might think twice about that.
Statistically speaking, if all teachers were trained and armed, there would be more deaths per year in gun accidents than there are currently in shootings.
Then what happens when the teacher's kids becomes a gunman? Like the shooting at Sandy Hook? I think banning guns would be ideal, but very hard to control... It should be harder to get a gun liscence, and they should be able to produce proof that they're in good health, and so are their peers. The public should only be allowed to possess a pistol or maybe a rifle for defence, if they desire to do so. But a machine gun? Why? It's not as if 10 robbers will attack your house at once. Even so, a machine gun isnt necessary. That's what the police are there for. We cant just take someone else's life into our hands...Sorry for the grammar, typing on the ipad is very irritating
Yup... probably thanks to the sensationalist vilification by the media.
NBC got called out on that crap a few years ago. During segments about semiautomatic civilian "assault" rifles, the B-roll they were showing was of military grade full auto rifles.
