Yeah you can make fun of the American kid, but come on. The Palestinian kid has been raised in circumstances where this scenario is plausible. Horrific, but plausible. Whereas the American has not.
It's all all about circumstance and perspective. So you can't judge the American kid for freaking out when his game was taken away because maybe that was the most important thing in his life. Granted, I still think the American is overreacting, but I don't think we can compare the circumstances and judge them both on the same scale.
Why are guys treated like a different species? Just because they either don't have an account or log in for a 5 minute visit, why is it that when something is said by a guest, it is a thousand more stupid if it is normally stupid or saintly if it is kind, rational, or logical?
Finally someone said it! Thanks guest! I was about to rage. I mean like here in south africa we have REALLY poor people. If I had to hold a 2 rand coin(equivalent to a couple of cents in USA) I'd be richer than most. But they were brought up to live in extremely rough conditions where as me being priveliged enough to be "rich" have lived in a more comfortable setting. Even though I have encountered EXTREMELY rough situations I've managed to get through then. I just hate when people say "This is an underpriveliged person, they have actual reasons to complain about you don't."
It shouldn't even say American child. It should say something like 'child from a privileged society'. If those two children lives were switched, I doubt there would be much,if any of a difference in their reactions based on where they lived.
I believe the whole American child thing is a stereotype. Not all American children are spoiled and uneducated. But the rest of the world looks at the bad in us, not the good.
Okay so why do we make fun if Americans for being fat but not starving people in Africa. I know what I just said can be very controversial but seriously being obese is not funny its not healthy and so is being anorexic. So why do we choose to make fun if one health problem but not another. Now I am not saying go make fun of anorexic people because none should be made fun of. There is actually more people suffering from obesity than starvation. Starving: 900 million
obesity: 1.3 billion
I don't think you understand the point I am trying to get across here.

America is called the land of opportunity for a reason. Obviously this particular child is overreacting, but the vast majority of American children aren't just spoiled little brats. Many of us are privileged, yes, but that's because our parents, grandparents, etc came to this country and worked their butts off to be able to get their children everything they need in order to live a great life. The media often portrays the USA as a place of nothing but bad attitudes and obesity, but in reality, we're just as hardworking as any other society. It may happen that we have more opportunities than a lot of places, which is really quite unfortunate for people in said countries, but just because US citizens are blessed and have worked hard doesn't mean we need bad rap all the time.
Guys, like many other people said, don't hate on all people living in the United States just because of what you see here. Not all American people act this way. This kid is clearly overreacting. That doesn't mean that all Americans are spoilt brats.
As a none American citizen, let me tell you what the rest of the world thinks ... Spoilt American fatty who clearly needs some discipline and education
Most of us are educated and disciplined, believe it or not.
The internet simply reveals the worst of us.
US=Fat Lazy
Middle East=Terrorist
Australia="There's a snake in my boot"
Asia=Obsessive, Crowded, School girls and tentacles
Russia=Dirty Commie
Out of interest, does the Internet ever split apart the UK and consider it's separate countries? Or are the UK, Great Britain, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland all synonymous?
(Australian btw) It depends what context I'm using it in. I normally will say England or Britain but I know that other people do classify them all as one without actually knowing they are completely different places so to cause less confusion I will sometimes just say the UK.
