I agree with the title. WWI people actually had 1-1 combat and you had to fight. WWII it started being bombs and now it's who can threaten and kill the most people at once

In all reality WW1 brought on the era of bombs and ICBM's. In WW1 Germany released the first gas attack which lead to an arms race of extremely lethal gasses. It started because of the stalmate in Northern France which wouldn't break until the start of the end of the war. The ideogy of kill as many as possible as quickly as possible originated from ww1.
As a side note Tsar Bomba was originally designed with a total yield of 100 mega tons. The proof of concept test we see here was tampered down to only about 50 mega tons to limit fallout. Ironically this created one of cleanest hydrogen bombs ever detonated.
Do you know why it was dialed back instead of detonated at its full potential? It wasn't just the limiting of the fall out.

It scared the Russians.
Let that sink in for a bit...

Soviet era Russians in the "prime" of the USSR and they were afraid of this thing.

It has been supplanted by the Russian made Aviation Thermobaric Bomb of Increased Power (ATBIP) or "Father Of All Bombs." It's rated at being four times more powerful.
