I get really rare migraine symptoms , I lose sight in one eye and feeling in one half of my body, and I can't even manage to put a proper sentence together. It really bugs me when people tell me to suck it up because they think its "just a headache".
Yikes, sorry hon! That sounds pretty scary. Yea, for me the headache part is the least of my worries. I get dizziness and nausea so bad that I can't do anything but just lay there in the dark until it goes away, sometimes for three days. I usually end up taking the drugs that make me loopy and tired tho, so that I'm more functional. But I got botox a couple months ago that seems to prevent most of them and make the ones that I get less severe.
Anyway, sorry for ranting. :)
Migraines are horrible! When I get a migraine one eye gets so blurry that I can't see anymore, and if it goes too far I throw up. The worst part is that I need extra strengh pills to soothe it or they don't work. They are not "just headaches".

Yes! Thank you! As a chronic mirgaine sufferer, mirgaines isn't like a "bad headache". It is nails with fire in head, electrifying taser-like firing in the whole body, nausea comes in tides, your senses are both heightened and suffering loss at the same time. This is the best I can describe it as, but I can't say that I hit home with this, but somewhat close.
That is the closest someone has come to describing it! Thank you! I just tell people to imagine a "regular" headache x2 and it's all settled in one side (Generally behind my eye). I get them on a regular basis no matter where I am!

You are welcome. That will only make them imagine it as bad headache which is common misconception. However, whatever works because you really can't guess what it is like.
From what I know about migraines (which is very little, mind you), I believe I've had one only once, and it was pretty minor. For me it was just a big blurry spot in my vision where I couldn't see and I felt so sick I just wanted to sleep, but I still get it. Headaches I can bear. I despised that and literally crawled into bed that night, nothing else.
For eyesthathear, are you sure you're not having cluster headaches? those are usually super painful headaches that happen at regular intervals, and the pain is centered behind one eye.
No, I'm pretty sure they're regular migraines, I just get them in an extreme form, mind you. It's a genetic thing, my dad's side of the family is full of it. Cluster headaches are horrid though, my dad once had one for a good three weeks.
I had a migraine a few years ago and I was in bed with a pounding head for 3 days. Light hurt, noise hurt, any movement hurt worst few days of my life. Never want to experience it again.
I have fibromyalgia and I suffer from migraines if I'm not on my meds. Nothing is compared to a migrane. I get dizzy and nauseous and all light makes the feeling worse I have to lie completely still in the dark with not one sound being made. Hopefully I drift off to sleep trying to focus on breathing and not the fact that my head weights 100th and is spinning about to explode. Migrane should never be compared to a bad headache
Chronic migraines. Every day of my life since I was 12. (I'm 25 now). I talk to so many people who claim to have a migraine and then proceed to go about their day as normal.
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!
Are you puking? Can you be in a lit room? Can you be in a dark room? Can you move your eyes? Can you stand up? Do you still have hopes and dreams or are you just begging to be put out of your misery? Have you ever considered getting an electrical drill, loading a new bit into it, and drilling into your brain because that would actually feel better?
That's what a migraine is.
Don't whine about having a migraine when you just have a slightly less than mild headache.
It's actually in the books that people with migraines and cluster headaches attempt to knock themselves out by hitting their head against a hard surface. So, unless you want to ram your head against the wall, you don't understand.
I always want to jam a knife into the side of my head. Obviously not really but I always say that when they get really bad for some reason. The pain is crippling.
I always get them in class and it's awful because the school "nurse" always gives me medicine for fever thinking I was over-reacting or exaggerating. She gives me a placebo.
I get migraines on a regular basis, people don't seem to understand unless they've experienced one. Occasionally, I get Optic Migraines, which is where I go completely blind. It starts out slow, like it's getting brighter and brighter, until it's completely white and I can't see at all. It really freaked me out the first time it happened. Then it takes about an hour or so after I take something for my vision to clear. Now I try to take something as soon as I notice it starting and I'm usually able to avoid completely losing my vision.

With my migraines I lose all of my peripheral vision and vomit until it's literally just bile coming up each time. I one had a really awful one that was two days straight of pure torture.
My record was 17 straight days, non-stop. I also know a guy who, due to a head injury, has had a non-stop vomiting migraine for over ten years.
.
That's when I stop complaining about my migraines.
Migraines are a complete torture. And for everyone who thinks its just a headache and we need to shake the sand out of our vagina and get over it i do REALLY wish that you get a migraine so bad it'll make you wish you haven't said that.
Have you ever tried topamax? It's a preventative medication you take daily rather than at onset but I used to get migraines 4-5 times a week and now I get maybe one and that's usually because I don't eat all day. Talk to your doctor about it! :) maybe it could help!
Anyway, sorry for ranting. :)
