All retriever type breeds are bred to have soft mouths so they don't destroy the kill when bringing it to the hunter. My lab used to retrieve rogue baby chicks for me without harming them. I let our pet tortoise out one day and I think she thought he was trying to escape because she brought him back to me, he was super pissed. You wouldn't think tortoises could hold grudges but they do, from then on he tried to bite her legs when she walked past him.

My Pomeranian on the other hand...

I have a mastiff pit bull that can do that. She steals eggs from the coop then just carries them around in her mouth all day until she drops it. Them when it finally breaks she eats it. It's too cute to take away

My black lab does the same thing with the eggs we get from our chickens. when she gets one she will carry it around showing it to everyone and then she will go lay down and poke a small hole in the shell and carefully the the yolk and egg whites out without crushing the shell. It's amazing to watch.

Not all of them. My labrador does not have a soft mouth. She hunts ducks with my dad, and she kinda chews them up. It's kinda gotten better since she got past her "terrible two's". My dad has a saying, since he's had labs most of his life. "Chew 'till they're two, shed 'till they're dead."

That dog looks like it doesn't have eyes.

It's true, I used to give my labs blown up balloons as well to play with and they would prance around with the tied end in their mouth.
