They compared it just for size reference, kinda gives us all something to compare it to for scale. I guess someone didn't wanna explain and thought you deserved a down vote for it. We've all had that happen, well I have.
well if you go population wise, aus has a much lower population compared to texas itself.
aus = approx. 23.13 million
texas = approx. 26.45 million
so it's kind of fair that they compare them.
I often forget that Canada is the second largest country... Blows my mind that it takes my five hours to drive to the states, but in Europe drive half an hour and be in the next country
Things like health care and economy are not influenced by distances, but rather by population. However, law enforcement is very influenced by land area.
Granted, america is as well populated as all of europe
i live in germany, in a little village. i have to drive 2 minutes with car and i'm in the next village. 10 minutes for next city. 15 minutes for next big city(cologne, aachen)
I live in New York State. My state is bigger than Greece, or Austria, or even Iceland. Most people assume I live in New York City when I tell them I'm from New York. I am in a farming community and am within a couple hours of lakes and mountains. I am half an hour or more from A city. I have to drive 6 hours to get to NYC. I hate that we are stigmatized by the stereotypes of NYC.
