I respect you as a person and your opinion, however my opinion differs slightly. My daughter can drive our farm tractors but trips over painted lines in a parking lot. When she ventures toward her bicycle or rollerblades we insist she wear protective gear because we know her limitations. Tony Hawk skates better than many people walk. If you were to carry your kid on your shoulders should we insist it wears a helmet? My point is that what some consider risky behavior others consider mundane everyday tasks and a broad spectrum risk assessment cannot be applied to everybody.

I do see what you're saying and agree with you. I just think helmets are important for things like this but Hawk is a very good skateboarder and she's not my child so I can't make that decision. But I would never say he's a bad parent for this.

Tony Hawk is a pro skater and has been for over 20 years. I think its safe to assume that him randomly falling is slim to none also it doesn't look like he's going "high speed".

Yeah sure, that's not the part I'm saying, it's just silly comparing a skateboarding fall to falling on the sidewalk. Like comparing a horse riding fall and falling on the path.

It's not the effects of the fall being compared,it is the likelihood of the fall.
