Mine was blue rainbows... I asked my brother if he remembered, and he had no idea... that's probably why he lives with his kidnappers now

Maybe it's just me but if my child doesn't know the person I'm sending to pick them up, they probably aren't close enough to me to ask them such a favour in the first place.

There is 2 parts to this 1) Yeah this was used back in the day before everyone had cell phones. If my mom was supposed to pick us up and she couldn't get my dad at the office (he went on sales calls a lot), they may need to ask one of my neighbors or something. 2) Most kidnappings aren't random strangers, they're friends or relatives. This made sure that the kid knew whether or not to get in the car with someone even if they knew them. If one of my mom's friends came up to me and said, "you're mom's been in an accident, you need to come with me now." They should be able to give the code. If my mom had to send someone, they WOULD have know the code.

If your mum was in an accident she wouldn't have been able to give the person the code...

@leahjade...1) not all accidents cause you to be incapable of speaking (she could have broken her leg or something) and 2) if they didn't have the code, you're not supposed to go with them, you go back to a teacher or a police officer and they sort it out.

Eh you have a point. I was just kind of thinking of a fatal accident.

That's why our schools can give children to someone other than parents only when the parent say who and when will pick up the child and when the child recognize the person.

I work at an elementary school, we can't release a choked unless the person picking then up is on their emergency contact card. If they aren't oh well! And if mom calls us and says it's ok... Still not good for us.
