In real game development very little math is used, you don't even need to be good at algebra, as long as you understand the concept of it (that letters can stand for numbers etc)

As for the algorithms and formulae behind the mechanics of most games, if you're working in a big game studio, they have dedicated mathematicians who make those.

People think small indie developers make it big all the time.
For every indie dev that makes it big there are 10+ who flop.
Most... not all, but most of those that fail:
• Have poor dev discipline.
• Make promises they can't/won't fulfill.
• Fail to communicate effectively or at all with the early backers.
• Are greedy, expect full price backing for early alpha access and run with the cash.
• Make death threats against Gabe Newell over minor Steam admin errors. Yes, that happened.
