When my kid asks for something, we tell her "We will see.". This means not a YES, and not a NO, it means if possible than we will, if not than sorry. She now knows if we wasn't able to get it then we did try. And she has not had a melt down since she was 2, she is now 7.

O and I forgot to add. Say we are not able to get the thing she wanted, or was unable to do what she wanted to do. We tell her next time when we ARE able to go do something or get something, we remind her what she wanted to do or get so she can get it or something else.

I've known several people who were raised spoiled brats and grew up to be addicts. Who do terrible things and have no conscience. The way children are raised is very important. Do it wisely and with love.

Don't give them what they want, but give them an understanding of why they cannot have it. This should build reasoning skills... Hopefully

Usually they wouldn't get it because they were simply acting like a rotten brat. ;P But yeah, I think that's a good parenting tip.

I'm not mgoveia so I hope I don't disappoint. I didn't particularly like sephoria's 'joke' about not feeding kids but it is clearly a damn joke. Wishing infertility and a loveless life on someone for any reason is fucked up ns. As the mother of two and friend to people who just suffered their fourth miscarriage I get really pissed off when people throw around shit like that. Think before you speak next time.
