Yes! I feel uncomfortable saying African American. .... but living in US I feel awkward saying black. I'm so confused! But people are hatian or black Hispanic descent. ...I agree not all African Americans.

I know quite a few white African Americans. My brother-in-law is from Ethiopia, friends from Zimbabwe, I'm completely spelling this one wrong - N'mimbia, South African. And a black room mate in college was who Canadian/Jamaican. To call someone African American is too limiting. If a black person immigrated here from France, England, Spain, etc. you wouldn't call them African American.
Just call them black. I'm white, they're black. If they think that's offensive, then they have bought into the idea that being black is a lesser condition.
We're never going to convince ourselves that races are equal if we don't think it's okay to be black.
The incorrect term used to label a "white" man or woman. The word Caucasian refers to a person who is from the region of Caucasus, which is in Europe bordering Turkey and Iran.

She may have been born there but that's not where her bloodline originates from. Are you telling me every generation of her family before her was born in South Africa too?
