Gender is a mental thing that a person intrinsically knows and can't really change, sex ( x or y chromosomes) is a physical thing which can be changed with surgery if or when someone's gender doesn't match the sex they were born into.
Gender is a social construct wherein your society tells you how to act based upon your sex. Sex is a physical, biological determiner to reproduction, while gender is how people look at your sex. Gender identity, for most people, is easy: you have a penis, you're a man; a vagina, a woman. It's not as simple as that for some people. Some people just simply do not wish to identify as their sex, and others don't want to identify as anything at all. The mental manifestation of this is called "body dysmorphic disorder," wherein the sufferer believes there is something wrong with their body that has to be changed.
I just feel like that's sort of dumb to change your gender because "you feel like it". But if you don't like my opinion then we'll have to agree to disagree
I get what you're saying, frostbite, but I think the desire is a little stronger than "just feeling like it." I've never felt that way so I can't speak from experience or whatever, but they probably change because they feel like gender they were born as just isn't them.
Sorry. But how would they feel like the wrong gender? You can't say you don't feel right because you only know the feel of one gender, the one you were born with.
They just know that they're meant to be a girl/boy, frostbite. I guess it's a mental thing, where they know they're born in the wrong gender. I don't know how, though.
It's kind of like this, imagine everytime you look in the mirror you see a bear but you know your a human, and evetytime you look at yourself there are bear paws and fur but you know you a human, you feel it and it's who you see in your mind but your body isn't what you think it would be, like its a shock because you know your a human. It's sorta like that
Frostbite: so much of it is societal pressures to conform to what is typically "boy" or "girl" actions. Boys are supposed to like blue, trucks, tools, and be builders and breadwinners when they grow up. Girls are supposed to like pink, dolls, cooking, and are told that they when they get older, their job is to take care of a family. However, large minority of transgender people have legitimate disorders that can only be treated with medication or surgery.
no it's called body dysphoria where you intensely dislike the gendered aspects of your body- if someone just 'feels like it' and doesn't have body dysphoria is talking bs
I just want to point something out that I have found in my experience PLEASE HEAR ME OUT before hating it. I understand that a lot of people don't chose their sexual orientation. I'm not a homophobe I have plenty of gay and bisexual friends. But I don't believe that that is the case 100% of the time. There are people who chose that way because they feel they have no one else to turn too. I would never say any of those people are wrong. I am open to peaceful conversation if I've offended you I'm sorry I'm just trying open people minds a little.
Well this is a little personal not to me but my sister she recently ran out on my family she has nobody no friends except one. She barely has a job. No boys in her life so the only one she can love is her friend so she's in love. She was strait before she left Like very strait.
thats basically cisgender, maybe she dosent see gender she just loves the person for who they are not their bits. Or maybe it took this situation for her to relise she's gay, maybe that's why she left? Just a suggestion.
U may not be able to choose some of these things, but u can def change them. Appearance? Anyone can change that....talk to any person (woman) that uses makeup. If u doubt me, google girl face makeup change

Make up won't change height body shape or many other things that fall nude appearance.
Yeah it's called bi sexual. Also a lot of times people are gay but scared to commit because the social stigma is to hard to deal with or they just could be finding themselves and leaving options open.
This generation of tolerance, ugh... God is intolerant of sin. On that list, homosexuality (implied) is sinful (it IS a choice), as is being an ***hole to others. You don't get to debate with God. He is the ultimate authority on all things and people's opinions on things that He's spoken on have no merit or justification. I am certainly not the judge - God is, but all with be judged, all will give an account of every word and deed (christians included, certainly). The difference is, ACTUAL christians (emphasis on 'actual') have Christ as their advocate. If you don't, then you're in trouble...
Its funny because in Leviticus it is said that men who sleep with each other should be stoned (Just in case you've never read the Bible, like most idiots who try to call random shit 'sin'), and in that same book is says "Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."
So unless you are wearing a plain robe from 2000 years ago, congratulations you are a sinner just like homosexuals supposedly are. Have fun in hell, as guaranteed by your belief XD
@ns It's true in the Old Testament it does say that. But God never burned down an entire city because everyone was wearing mixed woven clothes. After Jesus was born a new covenant or new set of laws was established in which to live by.
Yeah Jesus is all about love and respect. It's 2015 kids, I think a book written by dudes 300 years after Jesus was around might be a little out dated.
Or, a boy brain, but a girl body.
