Every one is I (eg. I, II, III - 1,2,3) Fives are V and ten is X. In four, instead of doing IIII you do IV (as in 1 before 5). Six becomes VI (one after five) 7=VII 8=VIII.
9 is similar to 4 where it is IX (one before 10) and so on.
1-I 2-II 3-III 4-IV 5-V 6-VI 7-VII 8-VIII 9-IX 10-X
It's not that hard once you get the hang on it. XX=20 (two tens) XXX-30 (three tens). Again similarly to 4 and 5, 50-L and 40 is IL (one before L or 50). Using this you can put them together. (eg. 27 is XXVIII (2 tens, 5 and 3))
While it may seem that there are multiple ways to represent larger numbers in Roman numerals, the correct way is the shortest one.
IL is correct. XLIX is not.
"Though a smaller numeral placed before a larger one generally decreases it by the amount of the first, the smaller number must be a power of ten, and cannot precede a number more than ten times its value. In other words, V, L, and D cannot be used to modify larger numbers; I (the numeral, not the editor) may modify only V and X, X only L and C, and C only D and M. As tempting as it might be to represent 1999 by MIM, common usage dictates that it be written MCMXCIX."

Also throwing this out there - Super Bowl XLIX, not Super Bowl IL.
Because it was probably created by a girl or group of girls who have never seen the Rocky films, the Star Wars Saga, or watched a single Super Bowl.

Girls watch those movies too and just because people have seen those movies doesn't mean they understand Roman numerals either. That was quite a sexist thing to say
I'm sorry you got so easily offended by a comment based on the photo presented above.

Im not offended by it just pointing out the truth about your opinion. Im actually somewhat amused by your trolling. Although I doubt someone who is genuinely intelligent would blurt out such an opinion as yours
