This has nothing to do with being a dumbass, because 1) by doing this, he has been most helpful to others than any of us will be in our entire lifetimes, because the day we die, our organs will be pure shit (especially our stomachs and lungs), and 2) you do not know about his life. Maybe he was just fucking depressed. Or completely unattached to his physical existence, because spirituality, vacuity and shit. Either way, what are we doing with our lifes? Have we given the world a fucking tenth of what he brought to it?
But he cut his contributions short. Think of all that he could have done in just one more year, let alone the duration of what his life could have been. It would've made a lot more sense to live out more of his life, helping in ways a single set of organs couldn't.
This kid was so smart, what if he could have cured cancer? But he took him self out to help what, ten people tops? In theory, If he had stuck around he could have helped the entire world.
That is stupid. Why the hell would you kill yourself to donate organs? You only have a few, so you can't save very many people.
Instead, why didn't he use his talent to learn, graduate, get a VERY high paying job, and donate money instead? A few organs can help a few people. Millions of dollars however, can be donated to charity, help fund research, and build shelters and facilities for people in need.
To call him stupid and selfish is insensitive when he has given his life to make someone else's possible. It's easy to say that he could have found the cure for cancer but should that really be the root of this abuse. kibblesmydog is right that his organs would only save a few people; his heart, kidneys and lungs were used for a two year old, an eleven year old and two other people. However that in itself is astonishing. Brandenn Bremmer doesn't deserve to be branded as stupid or idiotic.
You are wrong. He did not say that he killed himself because of anything. There was no suicide note or even a goodbye. The parents believe that may have been his intent. On the other hand, I believe any kid can reach the level he did, he was not a genius or anything, he just studied and practiced instead of playing games and being a child.
To be honest when I read the article in New York Times, I got a bad feeling about his parents, they talk weird if it was a detective show I would definitely check their alibis. They seem to be a member of a cult or something talking all happy and matter of fact.
What if it was just made to look like a suicide? No note, no signs of depression, and someone who could harm the big wigs. A man was poisoned after inventing an engine that ran on water.
And fifty days later he was resurrected as Jebus II.

I'm pretty sure he didn't kill himself just to donate his organs. A lot of people commit suicide (for depression, etc) and then they usually state in their note that they want their organs donated. I guess the logic is "hey, my life sucks and I'm gonna kill myself anyway, why not donate organs for kicks"?
Seeing how the kid is a genius, he probably didn't have a very great childhood or fit in well (not saying all geniuses are like this, but there is a high probability). This makes sense why he committed suicide, most likely by depression.
I don't think he's an idiot, I understand that suicide is highly condemned in western society but in oriental cultures, it was considered a noble death. This is just our perception of suicide, influenced by religious, political and "ethical" (subjective ethics, if I may add) factors. He was probably very depressed and dominated by a chemical imbalanced that destroyed his health. I'm sure he didn't kill himself JUST to donate his organs, beneath it all there is an underlying reason...and I'm sure it's very poignant. Calling him an idiot is never going to change the fact that you could never do what he has done (to those who are bad mouthing a dead person). He lived the life he wanted to and the dead deserve respect.
Too bad he didn't reolace "Shot himself at 14" with "Graduated engineering school at age 16, med school at 19, perfected the artificial kidney at 23, the never-needs-replacing heart at 25, the cure for Malaria at 27, a device that purifiees water and converts the impuities to energy at 33, and an internet filter for terrible logic at 39."
