Actually, with most computers (Or all, I don't know) things that stare/are pointing directly at the user (or seem to be staring/pointing) will follow them. It's just because of perspective.
I think it's an illusion caused by the point of focus. The barrel of the gun is in sharper focus than the face behind it and the brain subconsciously focuses there, tricking you into thinking that it's pointing at you.
