It wouldn't have to be an international law but a law that all nations could adapt a version of into their local laws, these exercises in advanced stupidity are clearly child abuse.
I think beauty pageants are fine as long as the child is old enough to understand that appearance is not the only thing that matters, and make the decision to participate in pageants themselves for fun.
I agree that that's terrible, but I was in my first pageant at age 13 and had a lot of fun. It might have been because I chose a pageant system that wasn't based solely on looks, or that I did it with a friend, but I thought it was a good experience.
I'm not saying there aren't bad pageant parents and kids, but when I was about 9 I started doing pageants and I had a blast. I miss them so much. My mom always used to tell me that if I ever wanted to stop I could tell her, because she wanted it to be something I loved. Before I did pageants I was a shy little weenie of a child, and they taught me how to have confidence and speak to people (we had to give speeches and do itnterciews). Yeah they judge on your beauty, but thats only one category out of many others including essays, photogenic, speeches, interviews, and more. Plus, being kind of on the nerdy side, I can't even start to tell you how much confidence it gave me to dress up and look good. I know some of them are bad, but don't let a stupid tv show take over your opinion.
Hold these two ideas in your head simultaneously:
1. We support individual freedom for people to do what they want,
2. We want a law that outlaws stuff we find stupid.
.
Agree that child pageants are stupid, but don't require everyone else to bahave as I think they shoild.
