I'm guessing they mean average people who actually can run for a few minutes without keeling over. So yeah, most of us would be screwed anyway.

Yeah slower, but one of their steps is like 20 ours, so they really don't need to be faster

Absolute ground speed has nothing to do with pace speed. It's the same if you have two balls of different sizes rolling at different ground speeds. Their rotation speed *could* be different but their center of masses are moving relative to the ground at different speeds.
