Step #1: Hum melody. Learn melody.
Step #2: Find a music major, preferably one currently taking music history.
Step #3: Hum/Sing melody for them and tell them there is free food if they get it right.
Music majors will do anything for free food.
We have this game at my music academy. In History class we see a composer every month and at the end of the semester the teachers plays many pieces and you have to guess what composer is based on style and instruments. It's really fun
There's a website where you can hum music and it tries to figure it out. I've only tested it a few times, and get about 60% accuracy (however I suck at humming and holding a note) http://www.midomi.com ... just tested with classical, it got "ode to joy", but not "fur elise"
