Not really. Animals tend to eat whatever they can get in their mouths. My sister helps out at stables during the summer and she once came home with a story about a horse that got colic because the stupid thing decided to take all the reachable hay and grain from the adjacent stalls.
Most zoos serve as rehab centers for injured animals which are subsequently released, or as havens for animals that would be killed if they were in the wild.
In addition, zoos allow the general public to be exposed to and form a relationship with animal species that they otherwise would not care about. This in turn raises awareness which leads to more donations and increased support for conservation efforts.
So, where in the world are you getting that zoos are "animal abuse."
That's a rehabilitation center for the animals as well as offering humans the chance to see them. I mean when they take animals as babies or raise them in a tiny cage. Look at the picture. Of the giraffe was in the wild he could easy whatever he wanted, not have to lick ivy of a concrete wall...
The giraffe is stupid enough to try and eat until it bursts like that stupid horse I talked about in my previous comment. Animals will generally try and eat as much food as they can; I think that fact has been established and can be vouched for by many petowners and animal-carer-for-ers
1) They aren't raised inside a "tiny cage."
2) You have no idea how large the enclosure in this picture is, so why do you automatically assume it is to small.
3) Giraffes, like most wild animals, will eat any and all food they can whether they are hungry or not. This is because, unlike humans and domesticated animals, the giraffe has no real idea when it's next meal will be available.

Dude, idgaf how big the cage is. Animals should not be held captive. The giraffe wont eat itself to death. That's just stupid. Obviously it is not content. If you think its justified for people to just capture animals and plunder the earth, you're ignorant. You don't have any right to take living creature out of their natural habitat.
It will eat itself to death. That horse I mentioned (and another two I think; IIRC they died/got sick and left before my sister arrived) died of colic from overeating.
Where in the world do you get the idea that zoos are going out and hunting down animals to stick them in cages?
You're the same kind of fool as PETA, that thinks pets should be euthanized rather than live with humans.
Get off you high horse, open your eyes to the real world, and realize that zoos are working to save animal species from extinction, and people like you only make their job harder.

First off, you need to calm down. Meditate, get some peace within yourself. Zoos, have animals in loud surroundings and with people coming and going, screaming, etc. They are hand fed food, and are just there for human enjoyment. If humans left all of the animals alone, we wouldn't have to worry about their extinction, etc because nature would take its course. Plus, peta sees that humans are not superior to animals. Do you honestly think your petty insults are changing my mind at all? Lol
Nature will not take its course because industrialization and capitalism are at such an extent that people will not stop deforesting and doing things to our environment (as much as our governments try and regulate it) because they get money from doing it.
It seems that you're the kind of person who, if in a battle zone with only a knife and about to be captured, you'd run out screaming and take as many enemies as you could before getting shot down instead of surrendering and trying to survive.

Exactly. Humans are plundering the earth and we wont stop until everything is dead and gone. We aren't motivated by the thought of a peaceful world, were motivated by money.

And, that makes absolutely no sense. You don't know anything about me. If that's the way this debate is going, than if you were in a battle with a knife I can assume you'd run into the forest and take out as many animals as possible.
In addition, zoos allow the general public to be exposed to and form a relationship with animal species that they otherwise would not care about. This in turn raises awareness which leads to more donations and increased support for conservation efforts.
