In my opinion and experience you don't ask for a raise you earn it, but that's none of my business

Depends on the boss. A while ago there was a post: "Boss told me I'm not working hard enough. Called in sick yesterday. Took 5 people to do my job." In some cases it's not wrong to ask for a raise. Know your worth.
