Seriously though, kids don't care about being skinny or fat and if your kid does complain about being fat it's probably out of health discomfort and not estetical discomfort, so you should help them feel better instead of being butthurt and blaiming society
I did an assignment related to this in my myth and heroes class last week. They had us decide whether fairy tales were beneficial or harmful and we also read articles by psychoanalysts and feminists. Everything I read in the feminist article didn't make sense to me because when i watched Disney movies when i was younger, i didn't worry about being the prettiest or the skinniest. All i would dream about was finding my prince in the future and having my own castle (house). To me it seems nowadays people just like to point out the flaws in everything... idk thats just my opinion tho (:
Agreed. As a young girl who was obsessed with Disney princess movies, I never once thought "Wow, these princesses are so skinny." Honestly, the only physical aspect I really ever paid attention to was their beautiful luscious hair...
The only ones who are concerned with how the princesses look are the ones who can't accept their body, and feel the need to blame it on something, everyone is beautiful, Disney Princess or not
as kid i dont care about their waists but wait till you grow up and have gpod memories of the tony princesses THEN you starve yourself. disney princesses dont make little child anorexic when they are still a child. but they can make you anorexic if you grpw up! i speak from experience
I had insecurities about my weight- but it certainly didn't come from animated characters. It came from real live people- actresses and models, not fictional, animated characters who I knew weren't real and had unrealistic standards, and my problem started around the age of 12.
when you're a kid you don't think about that- I certainly didn't. That and, a lot of the films with such a case were made in a different time when women didn't have such a loud voice in the world and 'relied' on men more. They've changed it now, often the women save the men or they save eachover- they can't just get rid of all the old Disney films- they're out there now, and much loved classics- there'd be a riot if they 'disowned' them of sorts.
