Since when is anybody from the south an authority on pronunciation.. In fact, this actually reaffirms that it is indeed peecan

Pecan is what you eat. peecan is what you keep under your bed for when you can't make it to the toilet at night.

Here in Chicago, most people I hear say Pee-can (pecan), seer-up (though some people I know say in sir-up) (Syrup), and Q-pon (Coupon)

I have family in the country part of Pennsylvania and Upstate New York. I say things with a mixture of both accents, as well as the very faint southern accent of Virginia

I'm from Atlanta...which is in the deep South. We have a pride parade and festival every year...?

Yes there are southern states where people are accepting but then you have states like Texas and Louisiana where a vast majority of the places in the states are so opposed to it it's obnoxious

Honestly I think it's just rural areas that are like that. Pretty much every southern big city I've been too is really like any big city in the North (maybe with more sweet tea and barbecue though). I mean when I went to Texas, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio seemed pretty non-homophobic to me.

Yeah, but the thing about sweet tea was also pretty untrue. We serve sweet tea. I fist Macon Georgia three times a year and the people there are pretty homophobic. Not all, but some.

Biscuit is right, Texas isn't that bad

Yeah the cities you listed all scored like a 100 on the HRC scale. But most of the cities around it scored a 0, which is the lowest you can score
biscuit0883

I mean I wouldn't really say cities, but most of the small towns or rural communities are pretty homophobic.

I'm from Atlanta too, Biscuit! I've always said "Pcawn". It's just the way I've always heard I guess.

I get that the second person brings up a real and sad issue, but I hate it when people do it like this. The first person posted a genuinely funny rant about an unimportant (in the grand scheme of things) topic and the second person had to go and instantly take all the humor out of it while also unjustly identifying person A with homophobic tendencies. It's the equivalent of posting a hilarious status on Facebook just to have your mom immediately comment on it telling you to clean your room and do your laundry. Neither the right time nor place.

Well I thought it was funny and the second person has a good point. The first rant was actually kind of stupid.
biscuit0883

Actually, I don't really think you got the point of this post. Ranting about things like that is funny. Do you know what Funsubstance is for? Funny things. That's what. Not that we don't accept serious things, but the real point of Funsubstance is to post things that are funny.

Yeah, it's for funny things, but issues like this need attention. I actually thought the whole thing was funny.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't actually gonna respond. I thought I closed out of the window, I guess I hit the button. But I was gonna say that catering a gay wedding is different from serving gay people, you know? Like, who cares your sexuality is different from mine, but if the person is uncomfortable with the wedding, they could just offer an alternative place to order or something. :3 if it's a thing of you just don't serve gay people in general, then it's really stupid and rude. >:I
