Being smart isn't showing high test scores. Its showing your achievements when it comes to the real world. And that one reason why america is continuing to go lower and lower.
I don't understand why grouping kids based on their intelligence is such a bad thing? I hate when teachers group half smart and half not so smart kids together. it never ends well
as one of the smart kids, we don't want to do the teachers job. we just want to get our work done and let the teacher actually teach the kids that need help
Generally what happens in schools, is the programs for the, "smarter", kids will generally have teachers with higher pedigrees and better education. While the, "dumber", kids will get unequal education.
I have my problem with the concept too. In primary school we had a kid who couldn't speak our language but because she was our age she was in our class. I always finished my assignments fast and when I was finished I had to teach that kid how to read. I was 8 years old and they expected me to help a child who did not speak our language. I was totally overchallenged. That was the teachers job not mine. The concept didn't help the kid and it sure as hell did not help me in any way.
I went to elementary school in Southern California and we actually did have two teachers. One would teach certain subjects and the other teacher would teach their subjects. It was pretty awesome and we were a top ranked school. Private though, not public
Dividing children into groups based on intelligence is not a bad thing, though. If you have to keep them all in the same class, then you slow the pace because the slowest kids can't make it, and you're forcing mediocrity upon the ones who could be great.
I agree, as a child from a poor family, it was easier to have uniforms, because then people who could afford the latest fashions would not tease kids like me.
Well most schools where I live expect you do do atleast one summer and one winter activity. (Atleast my primary school did) Did you check the website though?
Everyone in college calls teachers by their first name.
I'm not even Finnish
