I dont know why would people complain about it, I love it so much. And, they are in the end a form of art. Of an artist would want to make creations with a superior level of beauty, at leaat thats how i see it.
PS: My God, Sheva. My God, Leon. *licks screen*
Oh and by the way, I'm pretty sure people who complain about that don't even play the games, and in a way, they are the ones judging them only by their looks, without knowing their story, skills or relations with the other characters.

Fair enough. They're both sexualized because video games are all about fantasies (super powers, being a hero, mythical creatures, etc.) , so they're given fantasy bodies
It didn't. That is either fan art or more likely a Fake Factory model for the CM mod.
.
Which I highly recommend. It's not just the Alyx model, but ALL the models and the entire game got a massive resolution upgrade with it:

Absolutely mind blowing, especially when you consider it is the work of one modder as a hobby portfolio piece.
.
An interesting feature of the mod, is the "charecter pimper," a sub program that let's you pick and choose the models for the various charecters in the game. Each model even has a "maturity rating" that lets you pick models that are better resolution, but not "slutty looking."
I don't think the problem isn't sexualization itself. I think the problem is, when have you last seen a female protagonist with an average face? Male characters are usually created as strong guys with a badass personality, which makes them attractive to female gamers and role models to male gamers. The strenght and muscularity makes sense since we're talking mostly about fighting games. How handsome their faces are isn't very important, because all the hotness is in their badass behaviour. But so far every female vidya protagonist I've seen (except in games where the player decides the character's look) has a gorgeous face. I understand why it bothers some people, because it kind of seems like they're telling us that in order to be a heroine, you have to do all a hero does, plus be pretty.
There's also the thing with clothing. Male characters usually get awesome armor, while female characters get either metal bikini or a supertight suit or at least a big cleavage. Now it may make sense in some situations, such as when it's in a hot environment or when the character needs something in which she can move freely and swiftly such as Bayonetta or Catwoman, but sometimes it gets really, really ridiculous when a character shows up in bikini in winter or wears high heels into a battle. Plus, the poses. The motherfucking female characters' poses. They're so ridiculously sexualized it hurts.
Sorry for the long rant, just wanted to show you my point of view so you could think about it.
I don't really care about the sexualisation but I think it's ridiculous and unnecessary when a female fighter has chunks out of her armour, leaving bare skin on display.
I don't play video games myself but i think it's ridiculous that female characters have such revealing clothing...how is having less armor beneficial??? It's like when the movies put the heroines in heels. Do they have any idea how hard it is to run in heels???? (Exception: Catwoman...because cats.)
