It's a moral norm but it's up to the person whether or not he/she observes it (nowadays) since social etiquette is becoming more and more lax

Almost anything is being taken as a flirty thing today. Being polite? "Sorry, I have a girlfriend". Excuse you, I have a boyfriend, I'm making conversation, hush.
Trying to find a comfortable way to sit? "are you trying to be sexy?" No, bro, I'm in the most uncomfortable chair ever, shut up.

It's really annoying because I talk to a lot of girls at school and I always feel really self concious because everyone (other than the girl I'm talking to) assumes I'm flirting and its dam annoying.

*holds open door*
"I'm taken."
*later, she walks up to the door*
"I'm waiting."
*opens door, slams in her face*
"I THOUGHT YOU WERE A GENTLEMAN"

Idgaf if it's normal or not, or if people take it as flirting or not, because I'm still going to do it because it is the ethical thing to do.
