This speaks to me as a girl who has to carry a notebook around so I don't forget things. (I got a concussion when I was 3 years old and fell asleep, it cause damage to my memory and now my notebook is my life. For example; I get lost at the school where I have attended for 7 years and my friends memorised the layout in a week at the most.) It means that any tests I do don't count towards my grade unless I do well though.
My best teachers are the ones that only give 4 tests the whole year. No quizzes in between or anything. They answer every question and actually explain how things are connected to the real world
I have a class where instead of giving us huge topic tests, we get a quiz at the end of every week or two, which means that we don't have to remember as much (which is great because I have a bad memory). And I've found that I'm doing really well, and better than the previous years when they didn't do this.

They aren't. Knowledge is retained information, so it's basically how well can you remember and access the info presented. intelligence is problem solving ability, and smart is the efficiency of intelligence/knowledge use.
