If I kept on punching you in the face because it was right for me would you respect that? The point is some things are right and wrong but we do have a hard time figuring which those are.
I don't know. I mean there's good in being open minded, but you can't let your belief of what is fundamentally right and wrong go. Ie, should you accept Hitler's philosophy and neo-Nazis? If you meet someone who believes that he should kill x people because of their race, should you just accept his perspective? I feel like open mindedness is good, but, like everything else, has limitis.
That's not really what being open minded means. Open minded does not mean you accept or tolerate everything. Instead it means you're open to examine for yourself and decide for yourself what you are willing to accept and/or tolerate. Just because someone believes one thing and thinks another thing is wrong doesn't make them close minded. Here is an official definition from the Merriam-Webster dictionary: "receptive to arguments or ideas". That's it. There is nothing in there that says you can't still decide something is wrong for you or for others, judge others, or reject someone else's reality. You only have to be willing to let them explain their viewpoint and then make a decision. Close mindedness however is thinking that just because someone disagrees with you that they're wrong or are close minded themselves.
That is the typical bullshit coming from people who want to live out their homophobia, fairy-tale religious and/or anti-science belief without anybody talking back to them. Or even worse: lameass folks whose idea of a discussion is for it to end with somehting like "let's agree to disagree". Seriously, these people arer worse than most people being labeled as intolerant. Take a fucking stand for what you think is right or go watching cute cat pics or play cabdy crush.
