okay, i get it, all for promoting a strong spirit. you couldnt teach the same lesson to your daughter without using chemicals? they have hair chalk and spray in. better yet, be the example and let her see that long hair dosnt equate feminity.
Speaking from experience chalks and spray in hair dyes tend to stain blonde hair, both are chemicals as well, and both tend to leave burns or rashs on sesative skin. normal hair dye tends to come out easier and hurt less.
The hair style is not the issue. The issue is dyeing a little child's hair, which not only will eventually ruin her hair, but also teaches her that she has to use chemicals to change how she looks for other people.

That's only true id you dye it over and over again. They're probably only going to dye it until her hair grows back out, if they even decide to dye it again at all.
"but also teaches her that she has to use chemicals to change how she looks for other people"
No it doesn't, you're jumping to conclusions.
the dye probably won't do any damage to her hair at all since her hair didn't need bleached, you need a lot of poor quality dye to really hurt none bleached hair
I had my hair cut like then when I was in 5th grade and I would get in trouble from the adults in the school for wearing a skirt or a dress because they all thought I was a boy, it was to the point that the teachers out in the playground would take me to the principals office because they thought I was crossdressing. almost the whole school year was like that, the kids didn't care a few still thought I was a boy though. The teachers finally stoped near the end of the school year, but since then I have always been worried about wearing dresses in public even with my now very long hair. before anyone says anything about parents going in and talking to the school about it my mother went in a lot because of that.
As long as that free spirit doesn't expect to get out of following the rules when it comes to dress codes once she gets in school. My neighbors girls are free spirits also and never think the rules apply to them. Same with the parents.
