That's because Wonder Woman is the princess of Themyscira and had an army of Amazon's at her back (though she definitely doesnt need an army. Like come on she's WONDER WOMAN for gods sake)
DC also had a contest where fans had to draw Harley Quinn in naked suicide scenarios. So there's that as well.
( I'm trying to say it doesn't surprise me that they would sexualize a Teen like that compared to other shit )
Marvel seems a regular mid teenage girl and DC seems like a regular teenage/pre college girl.
Honestly, I get what the difference is but in the case of actually seeing teenage girls nowadays. Both of them could be 17, have two different dressing styles, and be cool people. There's nothing wrong with either character in their pictures because it NOW accurately represent how some girls look today.
Yes thank you! Everybody acts like no girls ever dress like one or the other and everybody has to be covered up and stuff because they're "over sexualizing it" but that is literally how girls dress. Like some like to show off more and some don't it doesn't really matter.
Yeah, that's true, but the post is also showing the drawing type too. The body and how it's drawn in the DC one is a bit goofed up. It's the typical "fabric glued to every muscle in the body" you see on a lot of supers, male or female, and her body seems to be a lot more boob and butt than most girls, though that could be the angle. The Marvel one looks like she's actually wearing normal fabric, and her body proportions seem much closer to normal. I see what you mean about their clothes, though.
barcode, I guess you're right. But think about it, if you have a boobs the size of hers you don't want them bouncing around when you're fighting crime because that's UNCOMFORTABLE AND ANNOYING. You want something secure to hold them so they're not jiggling around. Sure, maybe they're not "over-sexualizing" it, but they're not making it that realistic either
(not saying that only DC does this, Marvel has plenty of female superheroes who don't exactly have the greatest clothing)
Yeah that's true it'd probably be uncomfortable and doesn't look very secure in her shirt. Yeah DC's not the only one that draws female superheroes like that but everyone acts like they are which is super annoying.
avengerrox1, Yeah I agree with what you're saying, but if I was a superhero I wouldn't want lose clothing that could caught in anything. But yeah the Marvel one does seem closer to the proportions being accurate.
look, its fine to hyper sexualize SOME characters, the problem is its not some, its nearly all, and its not balanced across the genders. like if these two were on the same show i wouldnt care about boobzilla because they also presented a girl wearing something that is also practical and more in line with men type outfits, plus its supposed to be teens which makes the notion of sexualizing them a bit more... societally hypocritical.
Very true deviledapple, and barcode, there's a difference between "clothing that won't get caught" and "is that fabric or body paint?" But yeah on a lot of characters both companies are guilty of oversexualization. There's a thing you guys should check out, the Hawkeye Initiative. They take female hero poses and clothes and draw male heroes like that it's the funniest thing ever
Well, going on the assumption that they made their own costumes like quite a few superheroes did, marvel would be more accurate with what would actually be made and DC with how some attention wanting girls would make their superhero Persona ( and I don't mean all females, just the ones who claim to like superheroes to get guys )
Why does one being black and the other white matter? Seriously tumblr, you love the established white superheroes like iron man and captain America, but call for bullshit like this whenever you want to seem more "tolerant" or some other bull.
THEY'LL FIGURE OUT YOUR IDENTITY, STUPID.

2. She's not black, she's Pakistani
3. They were talking about the over sexualization of a Teen character, nothing about race
