This is another post that has been posted to FS many times and discussed many times. The man above wasn't arrested but was cited along with two priests for feeding the homeless on public property. The law passed forbade feeding the homeless on public property because it promoted loitering, littering, and at very rare times violence. The judge assigned to the case immediately suspended the law. If this man and the priests were within the confines of a building then nothing would've come of this but from a legality POV he broke the law.
Or... y'know... we assumed that but the fact that he still had to go through the legal hassle is a fucking disgrace to humanity... you know... that could be it too...
For those that love regulating everything, note that anyone providing food to people needs to meet certain sanitary laws/rules/requireemnts: Stainless steel food prep surfaces (not formica or wood or marble), hairnets worn by food prep personnel, etc. There are all sorts of hoops that evwen a philanthropist has to jump through to do things for free. One guy got in trouble for compensating the homeless with food for sweeping up the shelter or helping with some repairs because he wasn't paying them minimum wage. So now they have neither the minimum wage OR the food.
