Ok first off I am not a vegan, I love chicken, stake, pork/boar, and bbq is awesome. But I think they do it to get us meat eaters to try vegan food. And maybe like it so much we turn vegan.
Here is my very lengthy opinion.
I am a pescetarian. I eat fish but no other animals. I think that eating another animal is morally wrong and I wouldn't want to be eaten. However I dont judge you if you do, to be honest I don't really care as long as you don't force me. I dont like the way factories treat their animals which is a huge part of it. Now for the point. If I was trapped in the wilderness and I was going to starve to death, I would probably kill something, meditate for it and give its remains a burial. I wouldn't want to but I would because I have to survive. However I have a great paying job and I can support myself with extra. So if I CAN afford to eat fake meat and save a few extra animals loves I will. I'd rather eat fake meat (that tastes exactly like normal meat) and save animals lives. Tbh I wish we could all live in harmony without having to eat each other but that's not the case. But for myself, id prefer to eat fake meat that tastes really good without the guilt.
More power to you but why eat something that taste like sin when you could eat other things. It be like us meat eaters makeing a meat version of a vegatain meal to taste as if there is no meat in it just veggies. But really it is all meat.
It's just what I prefer to do. I only really eat it like one or twice a month to add to stews or something when my mom cooks for me so she doesn't have to go out of her way. It's my choice and I don't want to argue or be attacked for it. Is not a big deal:)
I completely support your choice to eat whatever you want. But I'm really gonna have to agree with the pacifist on this one. It's a taste that you have to say, "close enough." I'm celiac, and nothing taste like a fresh loaf of homemade white bread, or bunny bread, or whole wheat pasta or... You get the point. Rice pasta is my "close enough" go to.
I didn't mean my comment in a negative manner. I can see how,in retrospect, it could be seen as such. fully believe that what you consume is your own business. If I offended I apologize.
Nah you're fine! We're all friends here. I don't mind you giving your opinion, especially when you're right! I appreciate the apology, thank you. :)

inspriationandlove - I don't understand the downvotes either. Nothing you said is mean or negative. I think you are getting downvoted just because you are a vegetarian. I gave you upvotes.
I agree. You shouldn't get down voted for having an opinion, especially when you're doing it for your self and not trying to convert the nation. I guess it only takes a few, to make the masses dislike the majority. I'm not ashamed of being a Christian, but the crazies who share my faith that make evaluate how I discuss it with others (so I get it). You got my upvote too. And your tastebuds arn't dumb, they are probably very well educated.
Well, I'm pretty sure most people don't go vegan because they don't like the taste of meat, but because they're making a moral choice. Having grown up with specific dishes, different sorts of wurst or cheese to put on your bread (they're a big thing where I'm from), you appreciate the way certain things taste. It has a lot to do with spices I think. These tastes don't magically change when you go vegan. Maybe some prefer to skip those "substitutes" that so many non-vegans sniff at later on, but in the beginning they can make the transition a lot easier. I don't see anything wrong with eating them if they're tasty. Quite frankly, I think people that get worked up over this are missing the point.
Most vegan or vegetarian based foods in other countries contain no meat or meat substitutes. They are not trying to make it look like meat. In this culture, however, everything needs to look and taste like something familiar in order for anyone to even want to taste it.
