The bird is native from North America, if that's what you mean. Why it has so many different names... not a clue. Even in my country we have several names for that particular bird, depending on where you go to.

In the Malay Archipelago(Malaysia,Singapore,Malaysia/Brunei), this is called "ayam belanda" or "Dutch chicken". Presumably because the Dutch brought it over when they colonised parts of the Archipelago in the past. -guest passing through

In Spanish is called Pavo. I guess we don't label them as foreign even though they are not indigenous in our lands either. But we accept yoy pavito!
