Okay so apparently he escaped three times in 1985.
The zoo officials (allegedly) used cameras to attempt to film him escaping, but he somehow noticed this and wouldn't do it anymore. So the zoo called in rock climbers to find any spot that he could escape from, and then spent another $40,000 removing them from the wall.
