I know many women actually accomplished things this year; this is basically belittling all of that. Next they will give the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to someone because they made a good cup of coffee.
It's still killing someone, even if it resulted from negligence. Either way, it's a terrible and sad thing. If Caitlyn is a happy person, then great, but let us not forget, there are scientific women making amazing breakthroughs. What about Elizabeth Holmes? She's created a blood-testing company that uses a drop of blood for testing that normally would require a vial of blood, resulting in faster, simpler, and cheaper blood testing. Or there's even Jennifer Doudna that developed a method of genetic engineering for easy, genetic changes that could eventually result in curing genetic issues before birth. However, Caitlyn did not actually the Nobel Prize for courage. It is a fake news story that happened to spread. Let's get involved and help recognize those who are brave, who are scientific pioneers, and those who are helping change our world. While Caitlyn's change has helped bring to light transgender acceptance/issues, I feel it pales in comparison to other issues at hand.
He still said that he doesn't support LGBT

"I have to admit that I remember 15 years ago, 20 years ago, whenever it was the whole gay marriage issue came up at first, I was not for it," she told the daytime host. "I mean, I like tradition and it's always been between a man and a woman, and I'm thinking I don't quite get it."
I honestly don't think she deserves the award because there are other females who have done other things that are more important. BUT- hating the fact that she got the award soley because she has a penis is not at all okay.
I'm sorry but I'm calling bs on this one guys! This post is purposely inflammatory. Marie Curie won a NOBEL PRIZE, Caitylin won an award from a magazine... The problem here isn't that one woman is "inferior" (which Caitlyn isn't) to another but that the poster is comparing the significance of a MAGAZINE award (which is all a marketing tool) to the same standard as a NOBEL EFFING PRIZE. Marie Curie didn't when the "Nobel Woman Prize." She won a Nobel Prize because she's a fucking genius who happened to have a vagina.
I know what the award is. That why I said it's an award a magazine came up with to market their magazine (veiled as an attempt to inspire women) the award is worthless when you compare to a Nobel Prize which iin my opinion, is what this post is really doing
"Okay guys, we need to think of who we need to give this 'Woman of the year' award or whatever."
"Uhhhh"
"...."
"How about that one du- errrr, girl that got her dicked chopped off?"
"That's genius, frank."
personally, i think it takes balls for doing both, handiling radiating stuff and declaring to the whole world that you're a woman but used to have a penis. Marie Curie was a scientist, yes, her work tood additional brains and shit but I don't think Jenner should be belliteled. She did make a step towards the world getting more familiar with transgenderness. This is important for many transgendered people out there. Not saying it'll save as many lives as x-rays did but... I don't think we should just spit on everything that doesn't seem incredibly important on first sight.
Say whatever you want but I do not have that much courage as it would take to do the Jenner thing. Not so publically, at least. Do you?
it was on purpose, yes. am terribly glad to be of entertainment. less glad to see that you managed to skip over the point completely but one can't have everything, can they.
No because I'm not mentaly I'll and want a sex change.you're honestly trying to say a woman who did something that's actually important is good but not much better than someone who decided they wanna be a chick. Honestly don't act like Transgender acceptance is as big of a thing as a breakthrough in science. Sure there's inequality going on and it's not right but it's also nowhere near the level of scientific advancement. Don't tone down a huge step for women and science just so you can try and defend the "bravery" of a Trans person. Even if it is important for equality and acceptanc, even if it seems like it's "not at first sight" it'll never be as important as the scientific breakthrough and step forward for women that the scientist was
Like tylerchu kind-of hinted, media is partly to blame. There have been so many other transgenders who have had an equally tough time with nobody to rely on. It isn't as if nobody appreciates the bravery it took, nor is anyone belittling it; but wouldn't it have made more sense if she had done something more than figure out her personal identity? We still would have appreciated the courage it took, had this been deemed normal, a change, rather than how it was glorified, and celebrated. Had a transgender man/woman or of any other identity had done something as scientifically significant as a breakthrough or the likes of it, it'd have made more sense for some of us.
Personally I think the social change that should happen for transgendered people is very important, especially when you're not a Rich white American who can afford the surgeries and live in a country where you're mostly safe from hate crimes. I think they should've choosen someone who had done more for human rights. Because Caitlyn has had the privilege to get the surgeries then have photo shoots and interviews. Though it is good, she didn't fight as much as others
How is caitlyn jenner any different than any other transgender people? If she's such a "good woman" for "bravely" coming out, why not other transgender women? Yes maybe so, because of the media and everything, but it is not helping transgender people be accepted more than just giving caitlyn some money.
Every time I ask why gender labels are neccesary I just get downvoted and hated. Why is it neccesary to classify yourself as a woman if you act like the stereotype? I was genuinely curious, but all I got was hate. Gender labeling is just supporting gender roles. genderfluid? Thats literally just mood.
That's great and all, but please, name one thing Curie-level that a woman did this year. We don't have a scientific hero, so we gave this honor to a transgender woman who was very brave as well.
There are plenty of women who have accomplished many incredible things this year, you just didn't hear about any of them because the media is transfixed on Kim Kardashian's ass and Donald Trump's stupidity.
I am related to marie curie and no she didnt discover shit. Her husband did. She just took all the credit for his work. And im related to her so i know the truth

I don't know if she was charged since all I hear about is her transition. On a side note, South Park parodied the shift away from her accident in a recent episode: https://youtu.be/d-QLaoOWX-w?t=1m25s
