Cancer can be even caused "on it's own". Misformed cells just happen every once un a while but they usually die off.

There is more to it than that. The most important distinguishing factor between a benign tumor (which can still be harmful) and cancer is the ability to infiltrate other areas of the body. Your description fits a benign tumor.
