Movies would be boring if they were exactly like the book. Have you seen and read gone girl? It got many non positive reviews because it was exactly the same.
People need to understand that books and movies will never be at the same level because they are practically incomparable. A book has much more room for interpretation, and its easy for an author to jump around different events per chapter, if someone were to attempt this in a movie, it would be all over the place and difficult for most people to understand.
Absolutely. That being said, when the movie is drastically different from the book and events key to the plot are changed, then the directos need a slap. But, the addition, rearrangement, or deletion of moments and scenes can make for a much more interesting movie.
Let me just quickly explain why this doesn't work:
Instead of reading the physical copy, listen to the audio book. I've listened to many books that are 48 hours long. How in the world are they supposed to convert that into a 2 hour movie?
My solution: convert books into tv shows.
I get that things need to be cut out, what annoys me is if they add things to the script that don't need to be there when they could have added an extra scene from the book or change characterization
2nd one doesn't exist*
This is my sentiments exactly
