Here's a tip from an experienced cat owner

Seriously, do not bathe them, even while they are young, they will freak out when put in water. As quekewatzo said, wet towel instead.

You can bathe a cat. Provided you start them early and use warm water. It also helps if your cat is just naturally chill. My cat loved baths.

Most cats aren't naturally chill, though.

Sadly, they aren't. :( In that case, you're right, don't do it. You'll be mauled and no one will feel bad for you. XD
