If she wants to die from poor cardiovascular health then by all means let them be them. BUT it becomes a problem when we have to start accommodating them. For those who just live life normally all for ya but if you're wanting medical benefits because your ass is lazy nah son.
Because it affects things like the price of heath insurance and puts stress on medical systems.
Also wanting people to improve themselves is generally considered a virtue.
I think the greater stress on the health insurance and medical system is the disparity between the cost of procedures (purely set by corporations) and the fact that most people (fat, skinny, smoker, non-smoker, man, woman can't afford it) someone being fat is not crippling the healthcare system! Lol and what right do you have to set the bar for what is an improvement to someone's life? RESPECTING your fellow man (and people's right to live the way they want to) is a virtue. What you're doing just sounds selfish, obnoxious, self serving, and pseudo all-knowing
"someone being fat is not crippling the healthcare system"
No one said it's crippling the system. I don't want to pay for other people's poor health choices.
"what right do you have to set the bar for what is an improvement to someone's life?"
Common sense is generally sufficient when it comes to physical health.
"RESPECTING your fellow man (and people's right to live the way they want to) is a virtue."
People do have the right to live they way they want to, it's not illegal to be fat. That doesn't mean it's wrong for me to harangue them for their poor choices.
"What you're doing just sounds selfish"
Concern for others is not generally selfish.
"obnoxious"
That's more the way I'm doing it than what I'm doing, but whatever.
"self serving"
I don't see how.
"and pseudo all-knowing"
Knowing that being fat is unhealthy is not all-knowing, it's common sense.

I'm just gonna grab me some matcha and watch the comments prove the point of this comic perfectly.
Being unhealthy doesn't mean you're a bad person, just as being healthy doesn't mean you're a good person. YOU CAN BE A GOOD PERSON AND BE UNHEALTHY!!!
Is anyone really saying that? Im sure that most are not connecting the fact that if you are healthy or unhealthy that you are also a good or bad person
The post is about how the woman is a good person, but the only thing people focus on is her weight. The only thing people are talking about in the comments is how she's unhealthy for being fat, ignoring the point of the post.
Literally nobody would ever say that irl.
And obesity is unhealthy. Being a little plump is totally fine but being clinically obese is not. You should definitely be proud of your achievements in life, but being proud of being obese is an entirely different thing. The thing about weight loss is that it isn't that hard unless you really have some health problem that keeps you from losing weight or an injury that makes you unable to work out. In my own experience, working out 6 days a week for half an hour is a miracle, and you don't even have to limit what you eat. It also made me a lot more confident and productive throughout the day.
It's good to not be fat. A person's obesity may not be their fault. That being said, why do people argue so much about this shit. If your fat you should try to lose weight and practice self control when it comes to food. Because there's a very good chance that you can do something about it. If you're somewhere below fat then good for you, but you shouldn't criticize or demean people because they're fat. Because, making them more depressed and insecure than they already are about their physique will only make it that much worse.
People should be comfortable in their own bodies, that's awesome if you are, go you! But to be fair, being comfortable in your own body shouldn't mean not trying to make important changes to your health. It is now healthy to be overweight, or underweight. It's not right for people to be offended when someone else tells them that they are living an unhealthy lifestyle. But the same goes for the other side, it's also not okay to discriminate and be generally mean to people who are not of the 'desired weight range'
It's absolutely fucked up that today's society is encouraging unhealthy lifestyles (be that overweight people or underweight people) because people are too fucking precious and assume that every time someone disagrees with them they're being oppressed and discriminated against. It's just not right.
See. This is the problem. People are fat and now are just told to ignore it and that their bodies are beautiful. I'm not saying that their bodies aren't beautiful, I actually weigh 70 pounds more than most of my friends. But I am healthy. If your healthy, then I don't care if your fat. Eat as much as you want because I love food too. But ignoring your health and telling those who try and help you that their wrong is not okay. If your obese you shouldn't just ignore it and decide it's okay and go about your life claiming your body is perfectly normal.
Let people do what they want. End of the day is is form of natural selection. The fucking irony of seeing one side of the world die of starvation and the other side die of over eating is simply too much. Heavens forbid that there is a movement of economical change or a global catastrophe.
In this world, a good roast is better than intelligence is. As evidenced by this post :v
Seriously, being unhealthy isn't something to be proud of... being proud of things you do good is, but becoming supportive of bad habits is something you shouldn't do.
...uh, it really doesn't. There are lots of people who are perfectly healthy even though they're a little chubby. Too much fat is unhealthy though, just as too little is just as bad. As long as people can do certain activities in their life and isn't limited by their bodies they have a perfectly fine life! Also, being fat do not mean that you have bad eating habits. It may be a genetic thing.
She wasn't just overweight.
She was obviously clinically obese. Which means scientifically proven to be unhealthy due to excess weight (in the form of fat)
No garlog, I just don't enjoy arguing with people who are all foam no beer ^-^ And it is still not wrong to have a little too much fat, it's only bad if it affects your lifestyle and health too much.
"I just don't enjoy arguing with people who are all foam no beer"
The literal definition of what you're talking about isn't just foam.
"And it is still not wrong to have a little too much fat, it's only bad if it affects your lifestyle and health too much."
It's not wrong, it's unhealthy, and if it's not enough to affect your health then it's not considered overweight.
I agree with garlog. Isn't this exactly what BMI was established for? It shows you how much extra weight you can have to still be considered healthy. The bigger the difference between your BMI and the ideal one, the more unhealthy you most likely are. And this applies both to obesity and malnourishment. So, if someone's only slightly chubby, it'd be stupid to shame them, and I'm pretty sure that normal people don't do that, and never did. However, if someone is fat to the point that you're not sure where their chin ends and their neck begins, it's only normal for others to advise them to lose weight, unless the person really wants to die at 40 from a cardiac arrest.
Besides, with all the SJWs and feminazis promoting obesity (sorry, "curves") and such, skinny shaming and even normal weight shaming is more common, or at least isn't percieved as so "offensive".
I do agree with mrmuffins tbh. Everyone should just stop involving themselves in other people's business, other people can live whatever lifestyle they fucking want and unless it's affecting me directly, why is it any of my business what they do.
Also wanting people to improve themselves is generally considered a virtue.

That's fortunate for you, because you're wrong.

Either don't be fat or suck it up!
