Remember the CEO that raised the price of a drug by 4,000%? He was arrested for fraud.

Too bad you can't go to jail for restricting people from a life saving drug cause you wanna make money.

And it was reported that his lawyer raised his fee 5,000% specifically for him. I have yet to find out if that's actually true or not, though.

Now that's illegal.

Not really, as long as he calls it a retainer.

Retainer price is agreed to before. If his lawyer raised his retainer 5000% I'm sure he'd find another lawyer.

It was a joke somebody had made, so not true. Sadly.

I assumed it was a joke, but if it wasn't, I was just saying that it would be extreme discrimination.

His being arrested for fraud and his raising the price of the drug are in no way related.

We all know that. It's karma that someone who raised the price of a life saving drug is then arrested, regardless of whether it's to do with the price hike or not. He's an asshole.

You do realize that his move prompted a company to create a $1 option, right? Either way, the drug is cheaper than it has ever been.

What if that company hadn't decided to make the $1 option? The drug itself isn't cheaper just the alternative to said drug is now cheaper.

It's a waste of time to speak in hypotheticals. A drug that does the same thing under a different name actually exists and sells for 1 dollar. That 1 dollar price is considerably cheaper than the original 18 dollar price of Daraprim.

It was hilarious, because in the middle of class, a teacher comes in and was like. "HE WAS ARRESTED!" "The guy that jacked the price?" "YEAH, FOR FRAUD".

Honestly, he was a failure at capitalism. His prices were way above his competitors, he wasn't going to make any money that way.
