Thank you for posting this. They get a lot of hate, but they honestly go away and leave your home alone if you ask them to, if someone comes back its because someone in the house has asked, or its a different group that got mistaken. They respect the decisions of others but what a lot of people don't know is they don't even ask people to convert x.x at least none of the ones i have ever met. Their goal is to teach about the bible and give sources to people who want them...not judge unlike many other church groups at disagreements. Sorry for the rant. I have many people close to me who are witnesses. Nice to see a good post :)
I've had one encounter with a Jehovah's Witness while a few people I know have had many. I live not to far from a church of theirs but I think they cover areas that aren't close to their churches more than in close proximity.
We many times have multiple groups in our kingdom halls, which some call churches. The kingdom hall I attend for instance has 2 english groups and a spanish group. To try and keep our work organized, the areas we live in are often worked at different times and chosen to work them effeciently and effectively. Hiwever, if anyone ever wishes to contact one of us, we would gladly visit. There are links to contact us on jw.org :)
I am a Jehovah's Witness passing by the site, and I hope it is acceptable if I offer my personal opinion: Thank you for helping correct a common misconception. :) Understandably, we might inadvertently annoy a few householders (waking them up, distracting or disturbing them etc.), but irritation and conversion have never been our goals, and I apologize wholeheartedly for any negative experiences one of you may have had. We are simply continuing what we believe to be the preaching work Jesus did and to help others grasp Bible truth (Matthew 28:18, 19). ^^ It is your choice whether you want to listen to us or not, and, though there may be one or two of us who are a little too zealous, in general we keep to ourselves and leave you alone if you are bothered. Please, have a good day! :D
What bothers me is that the ones who come to our house don't even ask if we're busy or if we want to hear what they have to say, they just start talking nonstop;
A couple ladies came up to my aunt after she got out of her outdoor shower (thank god she had a towel on). She was in her backyard lmao have not had good experiences with them
In my experience they aren't much different than evangelicals from any religion, except that most religions have some hardcore Jesus freaks and Witnesses are pretty much all hardcore. A lot of religions used to do the door-to-door thing but most have stopped. They are the only ones most people have heard of doing it is why they stand out so much.
So - the best thing to say about them is that they follow the most basic guidelines for human beings?
"I've got a stoner friend and he never tried to lure me into drugs. Such a good guy!"
....sorry, i've been in therapy for years now, trying to piece my life back together after leaving the witnesses...
Well there are a lot of people today who don't follow the "basic guidelines", so the people who actually live their life in such a way and do follow them to the best of their ability are a pretty big deal
