He is a bit hyperbolic, but he's not wrong. Both women and men are date raped with alarming infrequence. Violence against women by men is statistically still a major problem, and the violence is not from strangers.

But it is the type of crap some people will believe, quote as if it were serious and well-informed, and start a movement about. If someone said this about women, trans, blacks (unless they were black), or really anyone else, then it would be an outrage. It's bullshit, that's all, not a joke.

Seriously though. He's not saying all men are like this, but ask any woman. There's a reason we don't go out at night by ourselves, or go to the bathroom alone where we can get cornered. It's because guys statistically are a lot bigger and stronger than us, and can easily overpower us. There are enough sickos in the world to ensure our caution, and this guy is just exaggerating the amount of trust we need to actually go out and date, and hope we won't end up dead in a ditch. So yeah.
