This isn't even remotely factual. The hairstyle on the left is called "a standard man cut" and originated in the 30's (before the nazis) in America. The only difference between today's "standard man cut" and the original one is that it has become stylish to shave the sides bare. It looks similar to the German military cut because they are both easy to stylize (so that soldiers don't spend time styling their hair everyday) but it is also similar to the American military cut.
Source: my grandfather's barber was a barber in the navy in WWII. My grandfather is now a barber and has passed little tidbits like this onto me.
