No its a story. God wanted to test Abrahams faith so he told him to take his son on top of the mountain and sacrifice him. Story goes just as Abraham raised the knife god told him to stop. Isaac went on to father the jews. And Abrahams other son ishmael would go on to father the Muslims

The binding of Isaac is based off of the story in the bible, but all of the enemies in the BoI are actually his suicidal thoughts, if you die it is because that specific thought caused Isaac to commit suicide. And there is way more lore if you know where to look. (Google/Reddit if you want to find more)

Actually Isaac does not commit suicide but areas in the game,bosses and enemies (if not all) represent his imagination and he is struggling to stay hidden in his imaginary world (so called box) but there are things still connecting him to reality which he triest to escape from because it's so harsh especially because he feels guilty forthe problems in his family.This is just the base of the complex story.I can send a link to the entire one,the game doesn't actually have a story and it's up to you to interprent it and choose what is real and not but this is by far the most correct one (approved even by the developer).
