This is actually projected to become a serious issue in the future. If a large number of people have 4 year degrees and refuse to work in a trade then it's going to imbalance the economy significantly. A large influx of people in one area, such as jobs requiring degrees, will make jobs in those fields more and more scarce and allowing companies to be pickier with who they hire. That being said with a large number of people being one sided like that that leaves trades and unskilled workers to be lacking in numbers and will allow the lower number of workers to be pickier with where they work and how much they're paid, to an extent.

I'm studying to become an ET (Electrical Technician) in the (Royal Canadian) Navy. I've been told it's one of the more interesting and rewarding trades, and many ET's thouroughly enjoy their career more than any other tradesmen in the navy.

Fun fact: Many doctors get to work with their hands quite frequently.

teach kids that the only shameful thing is to sit on one's arse, doing nothing, contributing fuck all and living off of someone else's income. work is not shameful but making fun out of "degrading" jobs, is. i wanna know who in the fuck did come up with the term anyway.

I don't know that trade school is discouraged. You don't see a lot of people of trade on television, but I've never heard a parent be disappointed their kid wanted to be a plumber. The money is good, the market demand is always high.

I'm a lawyer. I was not enslaved. And I give free representation to low-income people to help them. So I would reconsider next time you call the pursuit of a legal career "useless."

But what is a useless, bullshit? Good grief, use proper, recognizable English. Or your native tongue.

I understood it just fine. I know I don't have perfect or proper grammar never have never will but you should still be able to figure out what they meant fairly easily.

Bullshit was the noun. Useless was the adjective. The end of the title made perfect sense. Snugglebutt, it was proper English.

I figured it out just fine. It's been years since I diagrammed a sentence, and I get that the bullshit is useless, but neither the comma nor the added "a" are necessary. Take those out and the problem is solved.

There is no problem other than your pickiness.

Good grief. Why do people around here get so uppity? There are TONS of comments left regarding spelling and grammar, but it's only a select few that piss people off. I pointed out that it could have been phrased better, that's all.

Ah, no. You did not. You were a jerk, and berated the person.

It's not what you said but how you said it. If you act like a pretentious asshole prepare to be treated as such.

I didn't berate anyone. Nor do I think it's pretentious (or being an asshole) to maintain my stance. If I make a spelling or grammar mistake I'd much rather someone point it out than let it slide. Sure, sometimes it's just an oversight but if it's not I'll keep doing it. It's amusing that sometimes it's OK to point out errors as long as you tiptoe around or pretend to be joking.

From this point forward if I catch a spelling error or otherwise grammatical error in anything you post and I comment "Good grief, use proper, recognizable English." don't get angry because I'm only pointing out what you've done wrong.

I won't! As I said, I'd much rather know than not. I'm also aware that a lot of people on here, and the internet in general, don't speak English as a first language. But the person who posted this usually does write properly most of the time. I guess I just get frustrated when I see people who normally seem to speak/write properly getting sloppy.

The "Good grief" part was a bit much. There are much nicer ways of establishing your point.

That's what I have an issue with, right there. I do see what you're saying, but it's far worse to call someone a jerk or a pretentious asshole than to say good grief. Everyone was quick to jump on me for pointing out a mistake, but had no problem immediately resorting to name calling. It's very frustrating to have to debate about whether it's worth it to say anything at all, knowing that someone will almost undoubtedly take issue and start swearing.

Hey. I just called it like I saw it. You were rude. I called you a jerk. You told me off for it. The circle has been completed.
