My brother told me to format every flash drive as soon as I get it. Sometimes the cheaper flash drives has hidden spy ware and trojans imbedded into them to cover the cost. He even bought me a cheap flash drive and used his Linux to show me hidden files.

In the storage industry 1 kb = 1000 bytes and not 1024, same for the others
