Sorry, not trying to be stereotypical here- but why are almost all of them black?

So are the men in the picture. It probably jist has to do with the makeup of the school and the area it's in. You'll find plenty of white kids with no dads. And hispanic kids, and middle eastern kids...single parenthood is a growing trend amongst mothers of all races.
Agree with above; I go to school with mostly Hispanic kids and the number of them who only have a mother or a father is saddening.

That number is only going to grow. More women are actively choosing to be single mothers, and more fathers are getting custody in divorces. It's nothing to be sad about, now that it's becoming more acceptable those children are beginning to face less stigma and are benefitting from wider networks of accepting adults. Single-parent kids grow up just as well-adjusted as kids in two parent households.
It's not really the same thing. This is more about having a positive role model of your own sex, so the equivalent would be girls without mothers. And there arw actually a lot of programs out there that work to give girls access to female mentors.
What if I wanted someone to teach me how to ride a bike, play sports, or even yell at the guys I bring home? A mommy mentor is ok but dads always seem cooler.

Well, since tons of moms know how to ride a bike and play sports, I think you're covered there. I've also never known a father outside of TV who did more than quietly dislike his daughter's boyfriend behind his back, so your expectations would probably fall flat.
I learnt how to give a firm handshake and make good eye contact from my mum. Seems a bit sexist to assume because you don't have a dad you cat learn these skills.
