However, you have to find the right places to put them. You lose electricity while it travels. So you can't just set it up in Nevada and power the whole United States... Well you could, but you would have to compensate for a lot of lost electricity.
We should still do it. Diversify power!
Also lets get economy into this. The area she mentioned is about 11045465039.08m^2 and the average price for the most efficient solar panel avaible is $330 or 265.19euros. The dimensions of said solar panels re 76.3m^2 so it would take about 144763630 solar panels to make, but wait, theres more. it would only cost a total of $47771997900 or 42229391337.89euros. And then theres the fact that the cost of building this. Connecting it to the rest of the planet and not to forget destroying the mountain it is on top of. Not to mention that the sahara desert is home to many animals and one of the seven wonders of the world. Also because of how dusty the sahara is it would need regular cleaning daily to work at a max efficiency and would make a grand total of 4072058watts per year! And the earth only uses 15terawatts per year so its pretty simple if we do all the maintenance required and somehow clear the desert mountain it will only take 10092 years for the solar panels to muster enough...
...energy to power the Earth for one day... So in short the thought of actually doing this would be completely crazy and we would have hopefully moved to a new planet or planets with more natural energy for us to use absurd. Do the math and create calculations as i have done before trying to make us question our views on life. True we need to find an alternate form of energy, but doing this is completly mad

Thorium. We will use LFTRs across the globe hopefully.
Wrong. Since the desert is so far away from everything, getting all that electricity to habitable areas (except for some African countries near the desert like maybe Algeria or Tunisia or Morocco) would be practically impossible because of energy loss. The energy that would actually get to you would be like 1% of what was gathered by the panels.
We do indeed and personally I like the idea of solar roadways. But putting them in the middle of the desert or on perfectly fertile soil is ineffective and does more harm than good.
And divided we will fall
