Non-human animal*
Because humans are technically animals.
Also if you think you're a girl but you have a Y chromosome etc., that's also a mental illness. Not a detrimental one, but a mental illness all the same.
If you identify as anything that is not male or female, genderfluid, for example, you're either seeking attention, trying to be the most special out of all snowflakes, or just mentally ill.
Yeah no. Being bigender and gender fluid etc is real and it's an actual thing that's been around for hundreds of years??? How stupid do you have to be to not think its a gender? It's 2016 stop confusing genders with idiots wanting to be plants and animals
Bigender and genderfluid has existed for centuries, true. So has being an attention seeking faggot. Coincidence?

As a dragon-kin, a former member of a proud race of peaceful warriors that had hearts of gold and we're tough as nails, you've hurt my feelings.
(Heavy sarcasm warning)
Then it needs to say that in the text. Based on how it's written, I thought it was somebody who thinks we are not animals and thinks we are better than animals. Nothing I said was offensive so why downvote?
Dude you must be mentally handicapped. While humans ARE animals, when one says the word, 'animal', people assume those who are not humans are the ones being mentioned
Perhaps it's a mental appropriation though some sort of unregistered psychological stimuli. Or maybe it's Maybalene! But to a point, it's irrelevant. Respect and ignore and you will be fine :)
You can't fix WILLFUL stupid. You can sometimes fix uninformed stupid.
And in any case, by confronting the stupid, you're attempting damage control and preventing the spread of stupid.
It's alright! :) By respect I meant being nice and kind to others. And stupidity is a realization after something has been done. When someone is doing something seen as stupid, to them at the time it may seem very logical or a proper emotional reaction.
Well no one said that was a GENDER. I completely agree that it's not a real thing, but it's more of a species issue than gender. Gender is mostly psychological, while species is your physical construction.

Gender is a property of nouns, not a social construct.
Lol, hurr durr. Did you not go to highschool and learn about X and Y chromosomes. Learn anything about the pituitary gland, hormonal differences between estrogen and testosterone?
What the fuck source do you want? A human brain has no basis whatsoever to become like a horse brain. A brain in a male human body has the possibility of growing into a female human's brain because a human can be male or female. The brain has an idea of what a female human's brain should grow like so sometimes it just does for whatever reason. But it has no idea what a horse or moose or hauselnoot's brain looks like so it will never ever grow to mimic it.
Oh I don't know, maybe sources like
Pomegranate . Dec2012, Vol. 14 Issue 2, p256-280. 25p.
CLINICAL CASE REPORT SERIES
Archives of Sexual Behavior

Or, if you don't keep up with journals, "Therianthropy, as both a web-based community and an identity, exemplifies the postmodern bent of new spiritual directions in the re-enchanted West."
This is both widely documented and respected as an identity. I'd say I'm within my rights to call this what it is - an opinion.
p.s. male and female brains aren't different, and if you want documentation on that I have plenty for you
They are different. I won't cite anything because I'm too busy fast-typing this and switching back to homework (and I'm lazy af) but I did see somewhere that there are consistent differences between male and female brains.

Of course there are. Both physical and chemical or mental differences. Thought structure as well. The male brain is bigger for example. Are you unable to google, occam?

This is the source you're citing. I'm not sure how reliable they are, someone else look through it and check for me.

...identify these individuals have formulated through their engagement with “popular occulture.”
This is part of the abstract. Formulating a gender identity through engagement with popular (oc)culture is not a gender identity at all. It's like me identifying as a Venator-class Star Destroyer. I can't. Nobody can. It's a creation of imagination, fantasy, and completely outside of what a human "is". Same as with animals or any other nonhuman identification. They are completely not what a human can be so it's impossible for a human to legitimately identify as them unless they have a brain boo-boo.
I'm not signing up to anything so all I've read is the abstract, but if what you're citing is a legitimate academic paper, they may be talking about the phenomenon (cause, effect, whatever) of other-kin and not its legitimacy (whether or not it's an actual "medical" thing).
You're very intelligent Mr/Mrs Chu :) Just be careful because name calling and aggression at the other person might refute all the logic and facts that you give for you argument. That's all they will focus on whether you are correct or not.
